As Founder and Executive Director of K-9 Disaster Relief my thoughts and prayers are with the victims of Las Vegas. On behalf of our organization, let me also acknowledge the heroism of the first responders.
K-9 Disaster Relief, as a non-profit organization, was formed while providing Canine Disaster Relief Services on WTC Ground Zero.
Our mission is accomplished by paring canines with professionally trained traumatic stress mental health handlers to aid and assist victims, families and first responders in the aftermath traumatic events and critical incidents.
Over the last sixteen years we have been able to respond primarily through in-kind donations and teaching courses in Canine Disaster Relief Services. Like many non-profit organizations, K-9 Disaster Relief has depleted response funding. We are in need of financial support.
In Las Vegas, survivors, families and first responders have invisible wounds, which require mental health traumatic stress care. With your support trained handlers will be able to provide those services for days, months and years.
I hope you will consider a donation in any amount. Through contributions, K-9 Disaster Relief will provide Canine Disaster Relief Services training to Las Vegas individuals and organizations, including first responders and uniformed services.
